The Nomads

The Nomads is a bass-driven band that reimagines electric jazz with fresh energy and bold creativity. Led by bassist Chris Minh Doky, the band places the bass at the heart of a modern soundscape equally inspired by Larry Graham and Jaco Pastorius as by Billie Eilish and James Blake. True to form, Chris Minh Doky embodies a blend of Nordic serenity, American soul, and cutting-edge innovation.

With deep grooves, boundary-pushing improvisations, and performances that are as raw and electric as they are deeply musical, The Nomads continue to push the bass to the forefront, bridging generations through groove and melody

New Nordic Jazz

Chris Minh Doky leads New Nordic Jazz, a trio that delves into the captivating enigma of Nordic storytelling through the lens of acoustic jazz. At its heart is Chris’s signature style of acoustic bass playing, weaving lush melodies and evocative solos that bring each tale to life. Together with an extraordinary trio, New Nordic Jazz blends tradition and innovation, creating a sound that is as serene and introspective as it is dynamic and expressive.

Danske Salmer

Chris Minh Doky presents contemporary arrangements of Danish psalms, orchestrated for choirs, soloists, and both large and small orchestras. Originally developed for the Copenhagen Cathedral in collaboration with Dean Anders Gadegaard, this project features a fully reimagined liturgical music experience, with compositions that blend tradition and modernity in a profound and evocative mass.

Dance Ballerina Dance

Chris Minh Doky’s Dance Ballerina Dance is a romantic and original ballet that celebrates the elegance and emotional power of dance. With story and score by Chris Minh Doky and choreography by Gregory Dean, the production features the timeless artistry of live performance by principal dancers from The Royal Danish Ballet, New York City Ballet, and ABT.

The ballet explores themes of love, grace, ambition, and vulnerability through the heartfelt story of a ballerina and a jazz musician. Inspired by Chris’s profound connection to both music and ballet, Dance Ballerina Dance beautifully intertwines classical ballet, Broadway traditions, jazz, and orchestral music, creating a truly unique and captivating experience.

Twyla Tharp’s dazzling tribute to Frank Sinatra’s iconic voice and music,        brought to life by the Royal Danish Ballet and a powerful big band conducted and led by Chris Minh Doky.
